About
The phone is converted into a two different microphones and complies with studio recording standards. Both microphones narrows the frequency band into the range of 200hz – 4000hz. The phone was build this way to filter unwanted static noise from the telephone signal. The result was a LO-FI speaking voice, that was easily understandable to the human ear.
The two microphones have different sonic characteristics. The dynamic microphone has the classic narrow telephone sound of the familiar landline phone calls of the 80s and 90s. The carbon microphone has a crisp and distorted sound, with higher output and self-noise. Only one microphone can be active at a time. The dynamic microphone will be active during normal use. A relay will automatically switch to the carbon microphone when 48v phantom power is applied to the signal.
Without any eq or mixing tricks, can the microphones deleiver an authentic sound of a vintage phone. It can be used as a voice effect for music or podcast recordings. The sound of the phone can also be used as coloration of various instruments during a recording session. It is suitable for voices, guitars, drums or rooms. In a mixing situation can the recording from the Vintage Phone Microphone 2 be blended with another recording to give coloration.

The dynamic microphone capsule is active by default. It is located at the end you would normally put up to your ear.
The carbon microphone capsule will be active when applying 48v phantom power to the signal.
The two microphones has different input levels. It is recomendable to turn your preamp down, then switching between the capsules.
The switching relay will give a pop – its normal behaviour.
