Green Passive Booster

The Green Passive Booster uses a 42TM017-RC audio transformer to create a volume boost.

This simple kit can give a significant volume boost without any use of power. The boost is achieved by using an audio transformer to convert unusable frequency ranges into energy. The boost is not transparent but usually colors the sound for the better. The pedal features a built-in diode-clipping overdrive that can be activated via a switch. The pedal has a simple setup with True Bypass, Volume and Overdrive.

The kit is suitable for the beginner. It will be a relatively easy task for more experienced DIY builders, but will give a great effect regardless. There are very few components and plenty of space between the components on the PCB. The assembly in the box is simple and also has plenty of space. The kit is in high quality and includes: PCB, transformer, components, big button, wires, jack sockets, potentiometer, toggle switch, footswitch, rubber feets. We recommend you to have some heat shrink tube ready for the wire connections.

You have to be aware that the boost effect only works, if the incoming signal is some kind of low-impedance. It could be a buffer, a guitar pedal with a built-in buffer, or a guitar with active pickups.
